BOOKHAM'S ‘Intelligent Optical Platform’ series provides a flexible,
network-ready hardware and software solution for a wide variety of
optical applications. A rack-mountable shelf for use in 19" and 23" racks supports functions such as DWDM Amplification, Mux/Demux, OADM, and Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS). Communication via SNMP and TL-1 enables remote configuration via network management systems.

Intelligent Optical Platform
The Intelligent Optical Platform Amplifier product offers a cost effective, rapid and flexible path to numerous amplification deployments. The platform has the benefit of utilizing Bookham’s class leading, established EDFA technology to provide superior optical performance along with fast gain and transient control over a wide dynamic range. Using standard network communications protocols, a full range of EDFA settings can be configured and monitored. Non-traffic affecting software upgrade is also possible using the control interface.
Other applications of the Intelligent Optical Platform series such as Mux/Demux, OADM, and WSS further leverage the technology by using the same basic components, software, and production line. This makes it simple and cost effective to add further functionality without added development expense.
